Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CHICAGO, June 13 (UPI) -- Ted Lilly kept the Chicago White Sox hitless for eight innings Sunday and Chad Tracy drove in the only run for a 1-0 Chicago Cubs victory.
Lilly's bid to record the fourth no-hitter in the big leagues this season ended when pinch-hitter Juan Pierre led off the ninth with a solid single to center field. It was only Lilly's second win of the year against five losses.
Carlos Marmol came on in relief to record his 13th save, but not before loading the bases.
The win allowed the Cubs to avoid a sweep by the White Sox in the finale of their three-game inter-league series at Wrigley Field.
