Colombians Falla, Giraldo take Unicef wins

'S-HERTOGENBOSCH, Netherlands, June 13 (UPI) -- Colombians Alejandro Falla and Santiago Giraldo each notched first-round wins Sunday at the Unicef Open in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands.

Falla emerged with a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Florent Serra of France and Giraldo scored 6-2, 7-5 victory over Switzerland's Marco Chiudinelli to advance to the second round in the grass court Wimbledon warmup.

In other first-round action Sunday, Simon Greul defeated Robin Haas 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) and Peter Luczak bested Michael Russell of the United States 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-3).
