PHOENIX, June 10 (UPI) -- A two-run, inside-the-park homer by Gerardo Parra in the eighth inning Wednesday boosted the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 2-1 victory over Atlanta.
The Braves scored the game's first run in the top of the eighth but Arizona rallied on a fluke play in the bottom half of the inning.
Mark Reynolds was hit by a pitch from Peter Moylan to open the inning and Reynolds moved to second on a sacrifice. Parra then hit a ball into the right-center field gap and outfielders Jason Heyward and Nate McLouth collided going for the ball.
Both fielders went down and before the ball could be recovered, Parra had circled the bases. McLouth was injured to the point that he had to leave the game.
Aaron Heilman (2-1) picked up the victory by working the eighth inning. Moylan (2-1) suffered the loss and Chad Qualls worked around a leadoff walk in the ninth to earn his 12th save.
Kenshin Kawakami started for Atlanta and threw six shutout innings while walking eight. He did not figure in the decision, however, and is still mired in a 10-decision losing streak. Kawakami is 0-8 this season and has not won since Aug. 31, 2009.
