Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

LOS ANGELES, June 8 (UPI) -- Blake DeWitt bashed a three-run homer and drove in five runs Monday to help power the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 12-4 rout of St. Louis.
Dodgers starter Carlos Monasterios (3-0) allowed three runs on four hits, walking three over six-plus frames to notch the win.
He was backed by a 14-hit attack in which five players recorded multi-hit games. Rafael Furcal went 2-for-5 with two RBI and DeWitt's round-tripper was his first of the year, boosting the Dodgers to their third win in four games.
Cardinals starter Blake Hawksworth (0-3) was touched for six runs on seven hits over four innings.
St. Louis was led at the plate by Ryan Ludwick, who connected on a pair of solo homers.
