LONG POND, Pa., June 6 (UPI) -- Denny Hamlin pulled away from the field after a late restart Sunday and went on to win his fourth Pocono 500 championship.

The second of two late-race restarts came just after Hamlin had entered the final lap, triggered when Kevin Harvick bumped Joey Logano to put Logano into a spin.

Hamlin quickly lengthened his lead as the race resumed, holding off Tony Stewart and Joe Gibbs teammate Kyle Busch to take the Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500 and extend his Sprint Cup-best 2010 championship total to four.

Busch passed Stewart to gain second place with only one lap to go, giving the Gibbs team a 1-2 finish at the unique 2.5-mile triangular track.

Sprint Cup points leader Kevin Harvick ended in fourth place and Jimmie Johnson rounded out the Top 5.

Nadal downs Soderling for 5th French crown

PARIS, June 6 (UPI) -- Rafael Nadal of Spain claimed his fifth French Open crown Sunday, defeating Sweden's Robin Soderling 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 in Paris.

With the victory, Nadal avenged his loss to Soderling in last year's fourth round -- a defeat that snapped his run of four straight French Open titles on the red clay of Roland Garros.

Soderling couldn't find an answer for Nadal's speed. The Spanish superstar tracked down nearly every shot the fifth-seeded Swede could offer, staving off all eight of Soderling's break-point opportunities, including four in one game during the second set.

Soderling, who lost to Roger Federer in last year's French Open title match, ended with 44 unforced errors, while Nadal committed just 16 and broke Soderling's serve four times.

Nadal's' latest French Open win is his seventh career Grand Slam title. His five Roland Garros crowns leave him one short of the post-1968 record of six held by Bjorn Borg.

He improved to 38-1 all-time at Roland Garros and will surpass Federer as the world No. 1 when rankings are released Monday.

Rose blooms at Memorial, wins by three

DUBLIN, Ohio, June 6 (UPI) -- Justin Rose used a near-flawless round of 6-under 66 Sunday to overcome Rickie Fowler and post a three-stroke win at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.

Rose, a 29-year-old Briton, collected his first PGA Tour championship, bouncing back from a four-shot deficit to finish with an 18-under 270, three ahead of third-round leader Fowler.

Fowler fell off the pace after his tee shot at the par-three 12th found a water hazard and he ended up taking a double-bogey to find himself two shots behind. Fowler ended with a 1-over 73, good for sole possession of second at 15-under 273.

Third place was shared by Bo Van Pelt (69) and Ricky Barnes (73) at 12 under 276.

Phil Mickelson shot a 69 to end in a three-way tie for fourth with Tim Petrovic (74) and Ryan More (68) at 11-under 277, missing a chance to overcome defending champ Tiger Woods at the top of the world rankings. Mickelson needed a victory to gain the top spot.

Woods played all four rounds of a tourney for the first time since the Masters in his return from a neck injury. He finished with a 72 and ended in a 19th-place tie at six-under 282.

Price finished with a 14-under 199 to outdistance tour rookie Tommy Armour III at the Glen Oaks course in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Price's victory was his third career senior circuit championship and second in 2010 after taking the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, along with Mark O'Meara, in April.

Armour was still within striking distance at two back heading to the final hole -- but he then stumbled, carding a double-bogey after finding a fairway bunker. He ended the day with an even-par 71, four off the lead at 10-under 203.

John Cook (66) and Loren Roberts (68) were knotted another shot back at 204, while six players shared fourth place at minus-8.
