PHOENIX, June 6 (UPI) -- Dontrelle Willis tossed six shutout innings in his Arizona debut Saturday, helping the Diamondbacks to a 4-3 decision over Colorado.
Willis (2-2), a one-time National League Rookie of the Year, was dealt to the Diamondbacks from Detroit this week after spending two-plus ineffective years with the Tigers. But he was on his game Saturday, scattering five hits and surviving four walks en route to his first NL win since 2007.
Chad Qualls saved his 10th game of the year by pitching a perfect ninth after the Rockies had cut into Arizona's 4-0 lead with three runs in the seventh.
Ryan Roberts hit a two-run, pinch-hit double for Arizona.
Jhoulys Chacin (3-4) absorbed the loss, yielding four runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings for the Rockies.
