Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 6 (UPI) -- Pole sitter Ryan Briscoe led 102 of 228 laps and took the IndyCar Firestone 550k at Texas Motor Speedway Saturday.
Briscoe, who crashed during the Indianapolis 500, held off a late charge by Danica Patrick and beat her by 1.46 seconds for his first IndyCar win of the season and the sixth of his IndyCar career.
Patrick's Andretti Autosport teammate, Marco Andretti, finished third ahead of Scott Dixon and Indy 500 champ Dario Franchitti, both driving for Target Chip Ganassi Racing.
Franchitti led 86 laps but was done in by pit stops late in the race. His fifth-place finish, combined with a 14th-place showing by Penske's Will Power, gave Franchitti the points lead.
