Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CHICAGO, June 5 (UPI) -- Jhonny Peralta's pair of two-run doubles Friday helped Justin Masters end a 17-start winless streak in a 10-1 victory for Cleveland over the Chicago White Sox.
Peralta's run-scoring hits came in the sixth and seventh innings, during which Cleveland scored six times in all. The Indians added four more runs in the eighth, two of them coming on a homer by Austin Kearns.
A 15-hit barrage finally gave Masterson (1-5) the cushion he needed. He had not won since Aug. 20, 2009, and had lost 11 straight decisions. Masterson allowed only one run to the White Sox on five hits in 5 2/3 innings.
John Danks (4-5) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings. He has dropped five of his last six starts.
