LOS ANGELES, June 2 (UPI) -- Garret Anderson's 14th-inning RBI single Wednesday drove in Matt Kemp to hand the Los Angeles Dodgers a 1-0 win over Arizona.
A pitcher's duel finally ended when Cesar Valdez (1-2) allowed a lead-off single to Kemp. After Andre Ethier lined out, Kemp moved to second on a wild pitch and then took third on a James Loney groundout.
Anderson then lofted a short fly to center field where Arizona's Chris Young made a diving attempt and got his glove around the ball -- but the umpire ruled Young had trapped it on a short hop, allowing the Dodgers to take their fourth straight win.
Six Dodgers pitchers teamed up to shut out the Diamondbacks on eight hits over 14 innings. Travis Schlichting (1-0) got the victory after hurling the final four scoreless frames.
Arizona dropped its 10th straight game, including all nine on a road trip.
Diamondbacks starter Edwin Jackson tossed nine innings of shutout ball, scattering three hits, walking three and striking out six.
