MIAMI, May 28 (UPI) -- Martin Prado had three of Atlanta's 14 hits and drove in two runs Thursday, helping bring the Braves an 8-3 victory over Florida.
David Ross also had two RBI for the Braves, who inched within 1 1/2 games of Philadelphia for the lead in the tightly-bunched National League East. The five teams in the division are separated by three games.
Ross drove in a run with a double in the fourth and then scored on a single by Prado to give the Braves a 3-1 lead.
Prado had another RBI single in the sixth and Ross drew a bases-loaded walk during a three-run eighth that broke open the game.
Atlanta starter Tim Hudson did not stay in the game long enough for the victory, giving up two runs over four innings. The win went to Peter Moylan (2-0), who worked a scoreless fifth inning.
Ricky Nolasco (4-4) surrendered three runs on eight hits in four innings to take the loss.
