Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
NEW YORK, May 25 (UPI) -- New York Knicks player Eddy Curry has been ordered to pay $75,000 a month plus interest on a $570,000 overdue loan, authorities said.
State Supreme Court Justice Jane Solomon ruled in favor of Allstar Capital, which said it had received no money from Curry since issuing him the five-month personal loan in 2008 at an 85 percent interest rate.
"He never paid any portion of it," Allstar lawyer Donald David told the New York Daily News in a story published Tuesday.
Solomon also ruled Allstar could seize three of Curry's cars: two 2009 Land Rovers and a Rolls-Royce Phantom convertible. Lawyers for Curry said Monday they would reach a "satisfactory resolution" that would enable Curry to keep the cars.
In court records, Curry said he was having trouble paying bills because he spends $17,000 a month on rent and $30,000 on household expenses, including $6,000 a month for a personal chef.
Curry, who has a $10.5 million contract with the Knicks, also owes NBA star Juwan Howard $350,000 and pays $16,000 a month in rent for his relatives, who have received 12 cars from him as gifts.
