Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

PHOENIX, May 23 (UPI) -- Amare Stoudemire tied a playoff career-high with 42 points Sunday to help the Phoenix Suns beat the Los Angeles Lakers 118-109 in the Western Conference finals.
Stoudemire also grabbed 11 rebounds for the Suns, who shot 37-of-42 from the foul line in Game 3 of the series, which resumes Tuesday in Phoenix with the Lakers leading 2-1.
Robin Lopez scored 20, shooting 8-of-10 from the field, Jason Richardson scored 19 and Steve Nash had 17 points and 15 assists for Phoenix.
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 36 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds. Pau Gasol had 23 points and nine rebounds, and Derek Fisher scored 18 points for LA -- which turned the ball over 17 times while the Suns committed just seven turnovers.
