
KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 22 (UPI) -- Jose Guillen hit two homers Friday, including a solo shot that touched off a four-run seventh, powering Kansas City to a 9-2 victory over Colorado.
Guillen ran his home run total for the season to 11 and put Kansas City in front with a two-run blast in the fourth. Jason Kendall, Mike Aviles and David DeJesus all contributed RBI singles during the seventh to give the Royals a 6-0 lead.
Brian Bannister (3-3) collected the victory, scattering seven hits and striking out four over 7 1/3 innings. The only runs he allowed came on a two-run shot by Clint Barmes in the eighth.
Jason Hammel (1-3) was charged with the loss, allowing five runs on six hits in 6 2/3.
Kansas City has won five out of six, and Colorado has lost four out of five.
