Rain wipes out NASCAR qualifying

CONCORD, N.C., May 21 (UPI) -- Heavy and persistent rain Friday wiped out qualifying for Saturday's Sprint Cup All-Star race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The starting lineup for the race was determined by the order of the qualifying draw, and that put Kurt Busch on the pole. Joey Logano will start on the outside of the first row.

No championship points are awarded for the annual All-Star race, but the winner will receive $1 million.

"It feels great," Busch said. "It puts us that much closer to a million dollars. Just to have track position early on in the race and to get a good feel for how the car will handle out front is something I'm excited about it."

Brad Keselowski will start third, followed by Jamie McMurray and Kyle Busch.

Denny Hamlin will have to start from the rear of the field after blowing an engine during practice.
