MLB: Philadelphia 5, Chicago Cubs 4

PHILADELPHIA, May 20 (UPI) -- Raul Ibanez singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth Thursday and Philadelphia survived a shaky effort by Jose Contreras to defeat the Chicago Cubs 5-4.

Philadelphia halted a two-game skid thanks in part to a three-run homer by Jimmy Rollins in the sixth that gave the Phillies a 4-1 lead.

Chicago came back to tie it at 4-4 in the eighth on a homer by Kosuke Fukudome but the Phillies immediately regained the lead against John Grabow (0-3).

Chase Utley drew a one-out walk from Grabow and Rollins also walked. Ibanez then singled to right, bringing in Utley with what turned out to be the winning run.

Contreras came on in the ninth to nail down the victory but he hit Alfonso Soriano with a pitch and gave up a single to Mike Fontenot. Contreras then retired the next three batters to pick up his second save.

Danys Baez (2-1) entered the game in the eighth after Fukudome hit his homer and recorded three outs on 11 pitches to earn the victory.
