PHILADELPHIA, May 19 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia 76ers reportedly have begun negotiations with Doug Collins to become the team's next head coach.
Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia quoted a source as saying Collins and the team are hopeful the process "will move quickly."
Collins, 58, has coached for three teams in the NBA and has a career record of 332-287 over 11 seasons. He has been with Chicago (1986-89), Detroit (1995-98) and Washington (2001-03). His best season came when he guided Chicago to the conference finals in the 1988-89 campaign.
Collins is currently an analyst for Turner Network Television.
Philadelphia fired Eddie Jordan after he spent one season as head coach. The 76ers went 27-55 this season, the club's worst mark in 13 years. Philadelphia will choose second in the upcoming NBA Draft.
