Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

BALTIMORE, May 17 (UPI) -- Kyle Davies held Baltimore to two runs over six innings Monday and the Kansas City Royals held on to down the Orioles 4-3.
Davies (3-2) allowed seven hits but walked only one, fanning two en route to the victory, the Royals' third win in four games under Manager Ned Yost.
Joakim Soria survived a shaky ninth inning to record his 10th save of year, inducing Miguel Tejada to ground out with the bases loaded to end the game.
Billy Butler doubled and drove in a pair of runs and Yuniesky Betancourt added two hits and an RBI in Kansas City's win.
Brian Bergesen (3-3) absorbed the loss for the O's, who dropped their sixth game in nine contests. He allowed four runs on 10 hits over 6 2/3 innings.
