MLB: Tampa Bay 2, Seattle 1

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 16 (UPI) -- Gabe Kapler lofted a tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the eighth inning Sunday, giving the Tampa Bay Rays a 2-1 win over Seattle.

The Rays, who had been held scoreless for six innings by Seattle's Cliff Lee (1-2), pushed across a run in seventh on an RBI double by Sean Rodriguez to tie the game at 1-1.

Then in the next inning, Carl Crawford led off with a triple and trotted home on Kapler's fly ball to left, bringing home the decisive run.

Rafael Soriano made the lead hold up by hurling a scoreless ninth and collecting his 10th save of the year as the Rays took the rubber game of a three-game series with the Mariners.

Dan Wheeler (2-0) was credited with the win after getting the final two outs of the eighth. Tampa Bay starter Matt Garza allowed only one run on five hits over six innings.

Lee was the hard-luck loser for the Mariners, hurling an eight-inning complete game in which he gave up two runs on five hits, walking only one and fanning 10.
