Brandon Wood drove in a pair of runs and Bobby Abreu got three hits and an RBI in the Angels' 15-hit attack.
Ervin Santana (2-3) lasted six innings to pick up the victory, holding the A's to two earned runs on seven hits over six innings, walking three and striking out six.
Tyson Ross (1-1) was roughed up for three runs in 3 2/3 innings, and the Oakland bullpen was pounded for nine runs on 12 hits.
