CHICAGO, May 16 (UPI) -- Xavier Nady knocked in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning Sunday to spark a 4-3 Chicago Cubs victory over Pittsburgh.
With the score tied 3-3 entering the eighth frame, Alfonso Soriano got a one-out single off D.J. Carrasco (1-1), stole second and advanced to third on a two-out wild pitch.
After Geovany Soto walked, Nady punched a base hit to right for the eventual game-winner.
Carlos Marmol made the lead hold up in the ninth, notching his sixth save and boosting the Cubs to their first win against the Pirates in eight games dating to last year, salvaging one contest of a three-game weekend series at Wrigley Field.
Sean Marshall (2-1) picked up the win after tossing a scoreless eighth inning. Starter Ted Lilly turned in a good game, allowing three runs on six hits over seven innings.
Lastings Milledge plated two runs in the Pirates' loss.
