Querrey rallies to beat Isner in Serbia

BELGRADE, Serbia, May 9 (UPI) -- Sam Querrey came from behind Sunday to defeat fellow American John Isner in the final of the Serbia Open in Belgrade.

Querrey lost the first set to Isner 3-6, but then got a second wind, taking the second set 7-6 (7-4) and claiming the title with a 6-4 third-set triumph.

Querrey also defeated Isner -- his doubles partner -- in February's Memphis final. With the win, he became the first American to take a clay court championship since Mardy Fish did so in Houston four years ago.

Querrey also became the first American to take a clay-court win in Europe since Andy Roddick's St. Poelten triumph in 2003.

Isner, the No. 2 seed, fell to 1-2 in career matches against Querrey.
