PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla., May 8 (UPI) -- Lee Westwood remained atop the Players Championship leaderboard after three rounds Saturday, shooting a 2-under-par 70.

After 54 holes, Westwood stood at 14-under-par 202, good enough for a one-shot advantage over Robert Allenby at the TPC Sawgrass course.

Westwood rallied into the lead after completing 11 holes as Heath Slocum found the water hazard at 17 and tumbled in the standings into a sixth-place tie.

Allenby, meanwhile, played a strong match, carding a 5-under 67 to move into second place at minus-13.

Sharing third place at 12-under 204 after Saturday's action were Ben Crane (68), U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover (69) and Francesco Molinari (70).

Slocum (67) came unglued at the end, losing four strokes over the final six holes to end in sixth along with Chris Stroud (70), Tim Clark (68) and Charley Hoffman (68).
