MLB: Chicago White Sox 7, Toronto 3

CHICAGO, May 8 (UPI) -- Jake Peavy pitched eight solid innings and Paul Konerko homered Saturday, staking the Chicago White Sox to a 7-3 win over Toronto.

Peavy (2-2) threw five perfect innings to start the game and ended by allowing just three hits, including two solo homers, while striking out eight and walking none as the White Sox beat the Blue Jays for just the fifth time in 24 games.

Konerko's homer was his MLB-leading 13th round-tripper and Juan Pierre collected a pair of hits in Chicago's victory.

The Blue Jays were led by Alex Gonzalez and John Buck, each of whom homered, while starter Brett Cecil (2-2) allowed three runs, seven hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings.

Toronto saw its six-game winning streak snapped with the loss.
