PHILADELPHIA, May 7 (UPI) -- Jamie Moyer became the oldest major league pitcher in history to throw a shutout Friday in carrying Philadelphia to a 7-0 victory over Atlanta.
Moyer, 47, improved to 4-2 with the kind of performance that has kept him in the major leagues for 24 seasons. He gave up two hits, did not walk a batter and struck out five. It was the 10th shutout of his career and first in four seasons.
Troy Glaus had both of Atlanta's hits, leading off the second and the eighth innings with a single. He was erased in a double play in the second and Moyer wound up facing the minimum 21 batters through seven innings.
Moyer went the distance for the 37th time in his career and for the first time in three years.
Jayson Werth gave Philadelphia the lead in the third by hitting his second three-run homer in as many games. Both Raul Ibanez and Wilson Valdez both delivered a two-run single in the fifth.
The Phillies won their fourth straight. Atlanta has lost 10 of its last 11 road games and is 4-13 away from home this season.
