NEW YORK, May 7 (UPI) -- A two-run blast with one out in the ninth by Rod Barajas Friday, his second homer of the game, handed the New York Mets a 6-4 victory over San Francisco.
Barajas hit a solo homer in the second as well and Ike Davis also delivered two home runs for the Mets, who have won eight straight home games.
San Francisco tied it in the top of the ninth on a home run by John Bowker, but Sergio Romo (0-3) could not get the Giants into extra innings.
Romo retired Jeff Francoeur on a grounder to open the bottom of the ninth, but Davis drew a walk and Barajas followed by hitting a 1-0 pitch just over the wall in left. It was his team-leading ninth homer of the season and the 101st of his career.
Davis hit his home runs in the second and fourth innings, both of them solo affairs.
Francisco Rodriguez (2-0) got the win despite blowing the save. New York starter Mike Pelfrey gave up three runs on eight hits without walking a batter over 7 1/3.
