MLB: LA Dodgers 7, Milwaukee 3

LOS ANGELES, May 7 (UPI) -- Andre Ethier hit a one-out grand slam homer in the ninth inning Thursday, giving the Los Angeles Dodgers a 7-3 victory over Milwaukee.

The Dodgers blew a two-run lead in the top of the ninth, but made up for that in the bottom half against LaTroy Hawkins (0-4).

Jamey Carroll opened the inning with a single, after which Garrett Anderson flew out to center. A single by Xavier Paul and a walk to Matt Kemp loaded the bases and Ethier followed with his blast to center on a 2-2 pitch.

That made a winner out of closer Jonathan Broxton (3-0), even though he gave up run-scoring singles to both Gregg Zaun and Craig Counsell in the top of the ninth.

The blown save cost rookie John Ely what would have been his first major league win. Ely is a candidate to be sent back to the minors when Jeff Weaver is activated off the disabled list, but his effort against the Brewers could create a change of plans.

Ely allowed a run on four hits and struck out seven over 6 2/3 innings.

Milwaukee had won the first two games of the three-game series.
