MLB: LA Dodgers 6, Pittsburgh 2

LOS ANGELES, May 1 (UPI) -- James Loney's three-run homer in the third staked Los Angeles to a four-run lead Friday and the Dodgers went on to defeat Pittsburgh 6-2.

Los Angeles snapped a five-game losing streak, getting a solid six-inning start from Chad Billingsley (2-1). He allowed two runs on six hits and struck out four.

Pittsburgh scored a run in the first, but Andre Ethier wiped out that deficit with a two-run homer in the bottom half of the inning.

Los Angeles then took advantage of Pittsburgh's struggles in the field during the third.

Xavier Paul reached to lead off the inning on a fielding error by shortstop Bobby Crosby. One out later, first baseman Jeff Clement booted a grounder off the bat of Russell Martin.

Matt Kemp struck out, but Loney followed with a homer to right that brought home three unearned runs.

Charlie Morton was the victim of the poor fielding support, falling to 0-5. He worked six innings and struck out eight.
