ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 1 (UPI) -- Alberto Callaspo stroked a two-run double in the 11th inning Saturday, boosting the Kansas City Royals to a 4-2 decision over Tampa Bay.
With two out in the top of the 11th, Rays hurler Lance Cormier (2-1) gave up a single to Scott Podsednik and then walked Alex Gordon and Jose Guillen, loading the bases. Callaspo followed with a shot past first baseman Carlos Pena and down the right field line, plating the two go-ahead runs.
Yuniesky Betancourt and Chris Getz notched the other Kansas City RBIs while Robinson Tejeda (2-2) got the win for pitching three scoreless innings of relief. He wiggled out of a two-on, no-out situation in the eighth to help force the overtime.
Joakim Soria gave up a pair of singles in the bottom of the ninth but hung on for his seventh save on the year.
Tampa Bay starter David Price pitched well but got a no decision, yielding two runs on four hits and walking one.
