DETROIT, May 1 (UPI) -- Johnny Damon's walk-off solo home run in the ninth inning Saturday gave the Detroit Tigers a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

After Los Angeles reliever Scot Shields (0-1) got Austin Jackson on a grounder to begin the ninth, he went to a 2-0 count on Damon. The veteran outfielder followed by mashing a fastball over the right field wall to collect his first round-tripper as a Tiger and his fourth career game-ending homer.

Damon ended the game with three hits, crossing the plate twice, while Miguel Cabrera and Brandon Inge each notched an RBI for the Tigers, who have won four straight.

Ryan Perry (1-1) registered the win for getting the final two outs in the top of the ninth. Tigers Starter Jeremy Bonderman allowed only one earned run over six innings.

The Angels were led by three hits from Kendry Morales. Starter Scott Kazmir yielded a single earned run on five hits over six innings but Los Angeles still dropped it third game in four tries.
