BALTIMORE, May 1 (UPI) -- Nick Markakis and Matt Wieters each hit three-run homers Saturday to spark the Baltimore Orioles to a 12-9 victory over Boston.
Markakis ended by going 3-for-4 with five RBI while Ty Wigginton clouted a pair for Baltimore in the slugfest.
Luke Scott chipped in with a solo shot, Adam Jones got an RBI and Brad Bergesen (1-2) collected his first win of the year even though he yielded four runs on seven hits over five innings.
Alfredo Simon nailed down the win for the O's with a scoreless ninth, registering his second save.
The Red Sox were led by Kevin Youkilis, who connected for a two-run homer, while David Ortiz blasted a pair of round-trippers and Jonathan Van Every also found the seats.
Boston starter Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-1), making his first 2010 start after being activated from the disabled list, was pounded for seven hits and seven runs in 4 2/3 innings.
