SAUCIER, Miss., April 30 (UPI) -- Bob Tway, seeking his first triumph on the Champions Tour, shot a 5-under 67 Friday to share the lead after one round of the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic.

This is the 16th Champions Tour event for Tway, a former PGA Championship winner who will turn 51 next month.

He is tied for the lead with 63-year-old Leonard Thompson, a three-time winner on the circuit.

David Peoples, Tom Purtzer, Brad Bryant and David Eger all posted a 68 at the Fallen Oak Golf Club. Mark O'Meara was among those at 69.

Nick Price, who is third on the money list, recorded a 70. Leading money winner Fred Couples played at the Quail Hollow Championship on the regular tour this week and missed the cut.
