SEVILLE, Spain, April 30 (UPI) -- Johan Edfors rode an 8-under-par 64 Friday into the halfway-point lead of the European Tour's Spanish Open in Seville.

Edfors, playing under a sponsor's invitation, is at 10-under 134 after 36 holes, giving him a 1-stroke edge over Mark Foster, who shot 66 Friday, and Sebi Garcia (67). Raphael Jacquelin (67) and Danny Willett (69) are tied for fourth at 8-under.

First-round leader Ricardo Gonzalez, who shot a 7-under 65 Thursday, ballooned to a 7-over 79 Friday and just made the cut.

Edfors said he was fighting jet lag before Thursday's round, in which he had three consecutive bogeys at one point and ended at 2-under 70.

He started Friday's round hot, however, with birdies on five of his first seven holes. He had a bogey at No. 17 -- his eighth hole of the day as he played the back nine first Friday -- but had four birdies on the front nine to complete his best professional round in four years.

His final birdie Friday came on the 231-yard, par-3 seventh hole -- where he had a bogey on Thursday -- when he placed his drive within 4 feet of the cup.
