MLB: NY Yankees 4, Baltimore 0

BALTIMORE, April 29 (UPI) -- A.J. Burnett and Mariano Rivera teamed on a three-hitter Thursday and Robinson Cano hit two homers, bringing the New York Yankees a 4-0 win over Baltimore.

New York prevented the Orioles from winning a series for the first time this season. Baltimore has only four victories in 22 games this season.

Burnett (3-0) gave up three hits and walked one over eight innings. Baltimore got a two-out single from Ty Wigginton in the second, a two-out single by Adam Jones in the third and a leadoff base hit by Cesar Izturis in the sixth.

Rivera allowed Baltimore's only other runner with a walk in the ninth.

Cano hit solo homers in the sixth and the eighth, bringing his total for the year to eight. He also scored in the sixth on a double by Marcus Thames.

Brian Matusz (2-1) took the loss, surrendering three runs on nine hits in six innings.
