KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 26 (UPI) -- Kyle Davies pitched six shutout innings and Billy Butler homered Monday in the Kansas City Royals' 3-1 win over Seattle.
Davies (2-1) set down 11 straight batters to start the game and didn't allow a hit over 5 1/3 innings. Ichiro Suzuki broke up the no-hitter with an infield single.
Brad Thompson, Dusty Hughes and Kyle Farnsworth combined for 3 2/3 innings of one-run relief and Bruce Chen earned his first save of the year by inducing Ichiro to pop out with two outs and two on in the ninth.
The win gave the Royals their first back-to-back victories of the season.
Seattle starter Felix Hernandez (2-1) allowed two earned runs on seven hits in seven innings, striking out seven. It was his first loss in 13 starts.
