PHOENIX, April 25 (UPI) -- Radim Vrbata and Wojtek Wolski had key goals Sunday and Phoenix beat Detroit 5-2 to force a seventh game in their Western Conference quarterfinal series.
Vrbata's goal midway through the second period blunted a Red Wings comeback and gave the Coyotes a two-goal cushion at 3-1. Wolski's tally less than 4 minutes later gave Phoenix the momentum it needed to post a do-or die road win and forge a series 3-3 tie.
The deciding game will be played Tuesday in Phoenix.
Lauri Korpikoski and Taylor Pyatt scored for the Coyotes while goalkeeper Ilya Bryzgalov turned aside 31-of-33 shots.
Detroit was led by Brad Stuart and Darren Helm with a goal apiece. Last year's Stanley Cup finalists will face their second straight Game 7 and third in their last four playoff series.
