MLB: Cincinnati 5, San Diego 4

CINCINNATI, April 25 (UPI) -- Ramon Hernandez drove in the go-ahead run with an eighth-inning single and Jay Bruce got three hits Sunday as the Cincinnati Reds edged San Diego 5-4.

Scott Rolen greeted the Padres' Mike Adams (0-1) with a leadoff single and scored when Bruce followed with a double, coming home when San Diego first baseman Adrian Gonzalez bobbled the relay throw from the outfield. Bruce advanced to third on the miscue.

Hernandez followed with a single to drive in the go-ahead run to help the Reds avoid a three-game sweep and snap San Diego's eight-game winning streak.

Rolen went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and scored three runs while Arthur Rhodes (1-1) got the win in relief of Homer Bailey, who gave up four runs on seven hits over six innings.

Padres starter Clayton Richard lasted 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and four walks.
