WASHINGTON, April 24 (UPI) -- Russell Martin's go-ahead RBI single in the 13th inning boosted the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-3 marathon win over Washington Saturday.
After Miguel Batista (0-2) got the first two batters in the top of the 13th, Rafael Furcal singled to left and stole second. Martin then struck his run scoring hit to put the Dodgers ahead.
Carlos Monasterios (1-0) was shaky in the bottom of the 13th but hung on to record the win despite an Ivan Rodriguez single and a Nyjer Morgan double. Monasterios tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings for the win, inducing Ian Desmond to ground into a force play at home.
Casey Blake socked two homers and drove in three for Los Angeles, which won for second time in five games.
The Nationals forced extra innings when Morgan's RBI single in the eighth off Jonathan Broxton erased a 3-2 Dodgers lead.
