SAVANNAH, Ga., April 23 (UPI) -- Nick Price and Mark O'Meara matched the 10-under-par 62 turned in Friday by John Cook and Joey Sindelar, giving the teams the lead at the Legends of Golf.

The tournament uses the two-man team, better-ball format and is limited to golfers 50 and older.

Price and O'Meara had eight birdies and an eagle for their 62 while Cook and Sindelar piled up 10 birdies for their share of the lead after the first round of the 54-hole event.

Three teams -- Fred Couples and Jay Haas, Blaine McCallister and Bob Tway and Brad Bryant and Lonnie Nielsen -- are tied for third at 9-under 63. Four more teams shot 8-under 64.

Price and O'Meara were 5 under after five holes thanks to birdies at Nos. 1, 2 and 5 and an eagle at the par-5, 487-yard fourth hole. They also had five birdies from Nos. 11-17.

Cook and Sindelar opened with a birdie and then had five consecutive pars. But they closed the front side with three straight birdies and, after a par at the 10th hole, strung together five consecutive birdies. A birdie 3 on the closing hole gave them a share of the lead.
