Hernandez (2-0) gave up nine hits, but did not walk a batter and struck out six. He threw 113 pitches in the eighth complete game of his six-year career. He has won 17 of his last 19 decisions.

Baltimore scored an unearned run in the first when Nick Markakis reached with two away on a fielding error by left fielder Matt Tuiasosopo and came in on a single by Matt Wieters.

Seattle produced all its runs off Kevin Millwood (0-3) after two were out in the fourth.

With runners on first and second and Millwood needing to retire just one more batter to get out of the inning, Tuiasosopo singled to load the bases. Rob Johnson drove in one run with an infield single and Jack Wilson followed with a three-run double.
