BOSTON, April 21 (UPI) -- Miroslav Satan seized on a Buffalo mistake to score a power-play goal 7:41 into the second overtime Wednesday, giving Boston a 3-2 win over the Sabres.
Boston took a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series and can wrap up a semifinal berth when it travels to Buffalo for Game 5 Friday.
The Bruins rallied from a two-goal deficit and took advantage of an elemental miscue in the second overtime when Buffalo was called for too many men on the ice.
The penalty was almost over when Satan scored his first goal of the playoffs off a feed from Michael Ryder.
Buffalo headed into the third period with a 2-0 lead, thanks to a goal by Tim Kennedy 2:12 into the game and Steve Montador 6:59 into the second period.
Boston got the game tied on goals in the first 7 minutes of the third from David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron.
Tuukka Rask picked up the win with a 35-save performance. Ryan Miller stopped 36 shots for the Sabres.
It was the longest game to date in the 2010 NHL playoffs.
