Humberto Quintero hit a solo homer in the fifth to bring Houston within two and an RBI single by Carlos Lee made it a one-run game in the sixth.

Pedro Feliz opened the Houston seventh with an infield single, went to second on a wild pitch and reached third on another infield hit by Kazuo Matsui.

After Quintero struck out, Blum came on to bat for winning pitcher Wilton Lopez and rifled a triple to center.

Lopez (1-0) worked two innings of one-hit relief for the victory. Matt Lindstrom picked up his fourth save, getting a double-play grounder to end the game.

The loss went to Burke Badenhop (0-2), who gave up the triple to Blum.

Jorge Cantu singled in the ninth for Miami, extending his hitting streak to 19 games dating back to last season. It is the longest current streak in the majors.
