PORTLAND, Ore., April 20 (UPI) -- The Portland Trail Blazers have signed forward/center Marcus Camby to a two-year contract extension, the team said Tuesday.

The announcement came as the Trail Blazers prepared to play the Phoenix Suns Tuesday in Game 2 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series. The Blazers lead the series 1-0.

Portland obtained Camby from the Los Angeles Clippers in a February trade in which the Blazers sent Travis Outlaw, Steve Blake and cash considerations to the Clippers. He has played a key role in helping the Blazers go 17-6 down the stretch to claim the No. 6 seed in the West.

Camby has averaged 7.0 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.13 steals and 2.04 blocks in the 23 games since the trade.

"Portland felt right to me since I got here and the support from the team, fans and organization has been incredible," Camby said. "I'm looking forward to continuing my career as a Trail Blazer and think this team can do something special."
