SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 18 (UPI) -- Chris Wondolowski and Ike Opara tallied second-half goals Saturday as the San Jose Earthquakes shook up New England 2-0.
The Quakes (2-1-0) got their first goal in the 57th minute when forward Ryan Johnson dribbled past several defenders to the top of the New England penalty area, then sent a diagonal pass into the box where Wondolowski powered it past Revolution goalie Preston Burpo.
Opara chipped in with an insurance goal in the 72nd minute, heading a corner kick by Bobby Convey into the net.
Opara, a rookie, got his second goal of the season in as many games.
New England (2-2-0) lost while playing without their star, Shalrie Joseph.
