Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

WASHINGTON, April 17 (UPI) -- Marco Pappa and Brian McBride each scored in the final 10 minutes Saturday, boosting the Chicago Fire to a 2-0 win over D.C. United.
Pappa's goal in the 80th minute came when Fire forward Patrick Nyarko deflected a pass off McBride in the center of the area. Pappa collected the loose ball and fired it past goalkeeper Troy Perkins, collecting his second goal of the year for Chicago (1-2-1).
The insurance marker came nine minutes later when a free kick by Fire goalie Andrew Dykstra was headed past Perkins by McBride for his second tally of the season.
Struggling D.C. United fell to 0-4-0 with the loss.
