Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

WASHINGTON, April 17 (UPI) -- Livan Hernandez hurled his first shutout in nearly six years Saturday, allowing four hits as the Washington Nationals pounded Milwaukee 8-0.
Hernandez (2-0) struck out three and walked two and has started the season by tossing 16 straight scoreless innings for the Nationals, who won their third straight to boost their record to 6-5.
Justin Maxwell connected on a two-run homer and drove in three runs, Ivan Rodriguez got two hits and plated three runs and Ryan Zimmerman celebrated his return to the starting lineup by driving in a pair of runs for the Nats.
Randy Wolf (1-1) took the loss for the Brewers, allowing four runs on four hits over five innings.
