OAKLAND, Calif., April 17 (UPI) -- Dallas Braden allowed two runs over seven innings Friday and Chad Pennington had a two-run triple, boosting Oakland to a 4-2 win over Baltimore.
The Orioles lost their eighth straight game, the last two setbacks having come against Oakland.
Braden (2-0) gave up just three hits and struck out four. Brad Ziegler worked around a leadoff single in the eighth and Andrew Bailey came on in the ninth to get his first save despite giving up a one-out double.
Jake Fox put Oakland in front with a sacrifice fly in the second, but the Athletics failed to capitalize on a bases-loaded, one-out situation.
Rajai Davis came in from third on a ground out by Ryan Sweeney in the third inning and Pennington delivered a two-out triple in the fourth that gave Oakland a 4-0 lead.
The loss went to Kevin Millwood (0-2), who surrendered all four runs and struck out nine in six innings.
