MINNEAPOLIS, April 17 (UPI) -- Orlando Hudson slammed a tie-breaking seventh inning homer Saturday, lifting the Minnesota Twins to a 6-5 win over the Kansas City Royals.
Hudson's clout was his first with the Twins, who also benefited from a two-run blast by Jim Thome and pair of RBIs from Joe Mauer in posting their ninth win in 11 games.
Starter Nick Blackburn got a no-decision, allowing five runs on seven hit in five innings. The win went to left-hander Brian Duensing (2-0), who hurled two scoreless innings, while Jon Rauch nailed down his sixth save of the year.
The Royals were led by Rick Ankiel, who pounded two homers and drove in three runs.
