Nordqvist wins unique LPGA tourney

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica, April 16 (UPI) -- Anna Nordqvist defeated Amanda Blumenherst in the six-hole, match-play final Friday to win the LPGA Tour's Mojo 6.

The unique event featured a 16-player field with each contestant playing a series of six-hole matches over two days.

Points were awarded for winning holes within a match and the top eight points earners after the first day advanced to the quarterfinals.

Nordqvist and Blumenherst both won two matches Friday before meeting for the championship and the top prize of $350,000.

Cristie Kerr defeated Na Yeon Choi on the sixth playoff hole to win the consolation match.

Nordqvist defeated Christina Kim in the quarterfinals and downed Kerr in a playoff to advance past the semifinals.
