
CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 15 (UPI) -- Derrick Rose struck for 27 points and Joakim Noah added 21 Wednesday as the Chicago Bulls clinched a playoff spot with a 98-89 win over Charlotte.
Noah pulled down 13 rebounds while Luol Deng, Taj Gibson and Brad Miller each chipped in with 11 points for the Bulls, who beat out the Toronto Raptors for the eighth Eastern Conference playoff spot.
Chicago is appearing in the playoffs for the fifth time in six years and will face top-seeded Cleveland in the first round.
Charlotte, which has the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference, got 16 points and nine rebounds from Tyrus Thomas while Gerald Wallace scored 15 and Stephen Jackson had 14.
The Bobcats will face defending Eastern Conference champion Orlando in the opening round.
