MINNEAPOLIS, April 14 (UPI) -- Jeremy Hermida stroked a three-run double and Dustin Pedroia contributed a solo homer Wednesday as the Boston Red Sox downed Minnesota 6-3.

Hermida's eighth-inning hit upped Boston's lead to four runs and gave the Red Sox the breathing room they needed to notch the first-ever opponent's win at the Twins' brand new Target Field ballpark.

Marco Scutaro was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored while John Lackey (1-0) posted his first win as a member of the Red Sox, holding Minnesota to two runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings of work.

Lackey, who signed with Boston after eight seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, was given a no-decision in his first Boston start April 7 after hurling six shutout innings against the New York Yankees.

Jonathan Papelbon earned his third save by pitching a scoreless ninth.

The Twins were led by Michael Cuddyer, who went 2-for-5 with a solo homer, while Orlando Hudson and Joe Mauer each drove in a run in the defeat.
